Cooking with Class to Support Support Seniors

What:  Cooking for Class
When:  Tuesday September 13, 2011
Where:  Salty’s on Alki

To cut to the chase, Cooking with Class is a great event, strictly based on the amount of money it raises each year for Providence ElderPlace and Heritage House at the Pike Place Market, two very worthwhile senior assisted living facilities.  Having worked in the Pike Place Market since 2002 (!), I have personally seen what the dignity of living in a facility like Heritage House means to the Market’s low income elderly.  Lets splash some money on these very deserving groups!

That having been said, Cooking with Class gives back to its supporters as well by offering a fun event.  The basic concept is this: 22 top local chefs give hands-on cooking classes to small groups of 8 guests.  These classes last about 30 minutes, then guests move to the table of the next chef they have chosen for a total of 3 mini cooking  classes.  At each class, guests help prepare and then sample the chosen dish, paired with wines from Washington States top wineries.

If this sounds like a fun way to support a great charity, then you should be at this event.  This year, my cooking class will feature the Steak Tartare that we serve at both Le Pichet and Cafe Presse.  And as a final bonus, view of Seattle on a warm September evening is worth the trip.
